Itinerary
Day 1, Arrival. Arrive in Ushuaia where you will be met at the airport by a representative from Polar Latitudes and transferred to the 5-star Arakur Hotel where you can enjoy sumptuous meal overlooking the Beagle Channel
Day 2, Explore downtown Ushuaia at your leisure, or take a hike on one of the countless trails in the surrounding mountains of Tierra del Fuego.
Day 3-5, Embarkation and Drake Passage You will board Seaventure by mid-afternoon and set sail for Antarctica shortly before dinner. As we cross the Drake Passage our Polar Experts will teach you about all things Antarctic, from wildlife to history, or participate in our renowned Citizen Science program, or sit back in the lounge and take in this fabled journey while catching glimpses of the ever changing wildlife. Grab your binoculars to identify the many seabirds that follow the ship as we cross the Antarctic Convergence and on into Antarctic waters where temperatures become noticeably cooler.
Day 6-7, South Shetland Islands, The volcanic South Shetland Islands offer abundance and beauty, so we’ll launch our inflatable Zodiacs and spend as much time as possible exploring. Be prepared to marvel up-close at an abundance of penguins and elephant seals.
Day -8-10 Antarctica: Here we’ll explore a variety of picturesque bays and famed harbors, maneuvering through majestic channels as we travel the wildlife-rich waters. There are great opportunities to stop at several active scientific bases and historic landing sites as we visit different penguin colonies, view seals lounging on icebergs, and whales fluking on the horizon.
Day 10-11, Drake Passage: We leave this magical place and make our way north, once again crossing the legendary Drake Passage. We have one last hurrah as we celebrate the conclusion of our expedition with a special slideshow and a final meal together.
Day 12, Disembarkation: With huge smiles on weary, contented faces, we disembark in the morning and t either go directly to the airport or extend your stay for more time to enjoy Fin del Mundo-the end of the world.
